Leadership Training in Pakh 16

According to some, over 70% of all Karen residing in Thailand are Christian. They have a long tradition of leading their own church in its ministry and outreach. The churches in Pakh 16 are no exception. There are many fine leaders, both men and women, young and old in the churches up and down the border. As a result
of the war in Burma many church members are refugees. Unable to buy
land or hold down any but the most menial jobs they find it very hard
to financially support their leaders. People live in such desperate
circumstances that it is often the pastor who ends up supporting his/her
members, both in terms of material and spiritual support. With churches
spread over five provinces the presbytery finds it hard to give the
care that these servants of God deserve.

To meet the needs of leaders in the churches the 16th Pakh has proposed a scheme of leadership support, mentoring and nurturing that began in June 2001. The present round of seminars cover the following topics: The Biblical understanding of money How should we get and spend money according to the Scriptures? How do we properly administer church funds? How
to keep proper accounts
What steps do we need to go through to create a budget that everyone in the church will 'own'? Please
join with us in praying that this time together will truly meet the
needs of the churches and will help them to be the people God has called
them to be.
